Shirley at Elton’s party last night

Sir Elton John’s annual White Tie and Tiara summer party raised over £3 million for his charity, the Elton John Aids Foundation.

Kylie Minogue proved to be another diamonds girl.

She wore bling valued at £3 million, including a 16-carat white gold necklace worth £2.5 million, saying “This is my official coming out.”

Kylie, 38, plans to resume a tour later this year. It was cut short by the diagnosis of breast cancer.

Other high-profile guests dancing the night away were Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, daughters of the Duke of York and Sarah Ferguson.

Kate Moss, Liz Hurley, Pamela Anderson, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, Elle Macpherson, Rod Stewart, Natalie Imbruglia, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, Louise Redknapp and Simon Cowell also attended.

Elephants with Charles and Camilla , then cocktails with Kate and friends

Yesterday Shirley joined The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall in their support for the endangered Asian elephant at a star-studded event at Petersham House, London.

The event was in aid of Elephant Family, a conservation organisation committed to preserving the dwindling numbers of Asian elephants in the wild.

Amongst the dozens of guests attending the event were Jemima Khan, Jools Holland, Stephen Fry, American actors Rob Lowe and Angelica Houston, and British star Richard E Grant.

The Cocktail Bar at the Dorchester, the luxurious Mayfair hotel on Park Lane, reopened last night after refurbishment.

Dame Shirley accepted an invitation to the opening party, joining some of London’s glitterati.

The mirror-covered piano once belonged to Liberace.
It’s always been a good after-theatre bar, open late, comfortable, easy parking and a good menu. With the attentive service and sumptuous surroundings that the Dorchester is famous for. We went there after the filming of Another Audience last winter.
