The Living Tree – Out April 23rd

New singles don’t happen often, in fact it’s been 8 years since DSB’s previous single release ‘World In Union’ in 1999
and 10 years since ‘History Repeating’ in 1997

(Thanks to Ian for those correct dates)

So I’m delighted to continue relentless promotion of The Living Tree, and invite every fan to

# start spreading the news #

Regular visitors here have been able to follow the song since it was a sapling
Its germination started in October 2005 at the filming of ‘Another Audience With DSB’
Now it’s finally come out of its disc closet!
Let’s help DSB get to Number One on the week of the April 23rd release

There are seven fantastic mixes and two videos –

We have come a long way since the 45 rpm vinyl single (which were usually scratched by my kids!)

Or the 78 rpm breakable gramophone record. A shattering experience :-0
Yes, Shirley’s first records were on 78!

Downloads will also be available on the official site
I’d recommend the High Quality 50MB version

It’s cosmic!
The video is better every time you see it

…Images of DSB in the canary yellow gown…
…whizzing around in a constellation of stardust and fireworks …
…artistic organic growth animations…
… surreal yellow branches and leaf buds bursting into life…
…slow-motion cape swirlies…

…and that dynamic voice…

This video rocks!

The MySpace Music web site is getting better all the time

Dame Shirley’s MiniSpace
This is a new showcase for some of her classic tracks

I’m thrilled to see these new resources

This time last year there was less web presence for Shirley

That’s partly why I started this blog
“Tell the world … this girl’s good!”

I Will Survive and Slave To The Rhythm on new album out May 7th?
Finally – some news about the album tracks thanks to Peter:

Hi Peggy and Happy Easter,

Have you seen this on the Billboard website?

http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003568616

I really hope that ‘I Will Survive’ is on the album.

If Eartha Kitt’s rendition of it was anything to go by it can be turned into a huge torch song – just the thing for Dame Shirley!

All the best, Peter.

That’s great news! Hoping to get the full track list soon

Thanks to Colin for these Glasto smiles:

Hello Peggy,
There was a quote in London’s Metro newspaper from Dame Shirley regarding Glasto. Apparently she said “No, that moment has passed” when asked if she would be sleeping in a tent at the festival.

Also Paul O’Grady mentioned the festival on his Channel 4 show. He said “Bassey is doing Glastonbury. Can you imagine a field full of mud and Shirley singing “GOLDFINGER”?
He then did an impression.

The tent on the left is reserved for DSB in June

Non-DSB

Tony Bennett, now 80 years of age and as good as ever, was asked about retirement on American Idol

He replied that he was from the old school… and his tickets still sell out wherever he peforms… so…

“If you’re sold out – don’t quit”

DSB is only 29 :-) and is certainly going to sell out at every gig!
