This is cut from the Telegraph’s article:

Those two veterans of sparkle and spangle, Dame Shirley Bassey and Joan Collins, enjoyed front-row treatment at Julien Macdonald’s show. Joan was dressed to impress in a metallic trench by Carmen Marc Valvo and Dame Shirley wore a black leather biker jacket over one of Macdonald’s sequinned shifts.

“Sex after 70?” mused the latter, who recently wowed a new generation of fans in crystal-encrusted wellies and another Macdonald frock at Glastonbury. “Maybe, if it hit me like a thunderbolt!” Her secret for eternal youth? “Think young; look after yourself… and a little Botox.”

A couple of days ago there was a fun quiz here. I didn’t know the answers. But some fans made an educated stab!

Estimated about 1968

Estimated about 1962

The gentleman on the left is John Barry

Thanks to the fans who identified him in this 1960′s photo with Shirley and David Jacobs

Here’s a link to the Wikipedia page about this wonderful composer, whose cinematic style – often with sublime strings – is instantly recognisable

Remember those swirling strings on You Only Live Twice? Sampled by Robbie Williams on a single? That’s pure John Barry
This is what John looks like now (b: 3 November 1933):-

Composers
While we’re looking at the composer of Goldfinger and many other great songs, here’s a link to Never The Bride’s MySpace page. Nikki and Catherine wrote The Living Tree and have a new song being considered by DSB
