Bond rumour translated

Well, it’s still all up in the air!

But for now, for what it’s worth, here is a translation of the report on an Austrian web site which was added here on 5th:

Frankly, my dears, I’m sceptical. Unless independent verification arrives, this is the last time the rumour will be on this blog. (Perhaps the Austrians had their April Fools Day a few days late!)

“According to Daniel Craig who is currently filming in Panama, the producers have decided: Bassey and Bono will sing the Bond song!

Now it is certain: Shirley Bassey and Bono (U2) will sing the title song for the new James Bond film ‘Quantum of Solace’. This isn’t the first time Bassey will be singing this prestigious appointment: The soul diva has already performed legendary Bond themes. Indeed there are not only to be musical highlights in this new Bond film, the location is very impressive. At the moment Daniel Craig and Gemma Arterton are filming in Panama.

Soul star Amy Winehouse was also discussed for this privelege. The producers had stipulated that she could only sing the James Bond theme if she could stay clean – something that she clearly hasn’t quite managed.”

If Amy is the final choice, as these reports imply, then why is there no official news release from the ‘Quantum of Solace’ production team?
