GTPS is down not out
After a successful run, peaking at No. 3 for two weeks, Dame Shirley’s single was down to No. 49 in the USA.
The Billboard Chart: ‘Hot Dance Club Play’ has been the natural home for the Chris Cox remix of Get This Party Started. The track has, and will continue to, start millions of parties all around the world. It has become a standard.
I think GTPS will be like Slade’s ‘Merry Xmas Everybody’. A smash hit in 1973, you still hear it every year. Noddy Holder, the co-writer and lead singer in Slade, described it as his Pension Fund as it sells every Festive Season. Like Dame Shirley, a fading retirement is not an option for Noddy.
