Astrid’s Simply Bassey #38

Today is a special Simply Bassey with special thanks to Mike Aldrich.

Mike shared with me a rare treasure. In 1961 Shirley Bassey performed at the Palladium and Mike recorded it at the time on record player. He sent the old records to me and to digitise and preserve and has kindly allowed me to share it with the world on the blog. An almost 50 year old recording full of Bassey magic and for Mike also special memories.

On August the 9.th in 1992 Shirley Bassey performed on the Royal Command Performance for queen Sikirit of Thailand her 60.th birthday in Bangkok. For this occasion she wore the black tassel dress.
