Bassey superfan’bigspendah’ attended a ‘Director’s Cut’ event recently and she has sent details for us all to enjoy.
00-Heaven for this Bond fan!
Guy Hamilton, the director of Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever,
appeared at a sold-out ‘Director’s Cut’ event at Aberdeen University
on Tuesday April 28th and I was thrilled to obtain tickets for myself
and a friend. The ‘Director’s Cut’ series is very popular and has in
the past featured renowned film-makers such as Nicolas Roeg and Sir
David Attenborough. The 86-year-old Mr Hamilton, who was interviewed by BBC presenter
Janice Forsyth, assisted director Carol Reed in the making of The
Third Man in 1949 before going on to direct films such as The Colditz
Story, Battle of Britain and four classic James Bond movies. During
the 90 minute interview clips of several of his films were shown -
including Goldfinger – and he imparted many fascinating and amusing
anecdotes from his long career. At a reception afterwards Mr Hamilton, who had flown in from his home
in Majorca, asked me to ‘guard’ his glass of red wine while he posed
for press photographs, which I happily did before asking him if we
could have a photograph taken together.A shortened version of the interview can be heard on BBC Radio
Scotland’s ‘Movie Cafe’ on Thursday May 21st.Links:
