Somebody Loves me
While we are waiting patiently to see if there will be a new studio album there are more CDs released containing Philips recordings. There are two CDs issued called ‘Somebody Loves Me’ and both by the same company. One is a single CD and the other a double. Both are issued by Weton – Wesgram which is a Dutch company.
The single CD (pictured above) has 14 tracks but strangely enough not the song ‘Somebody Loves Me’ although the CD is called that. The catalogue number is LATA270. I have to be honest and say the sleeve looks somewhat cheap to me and strange how they chose a phtograph from the 1970’s. It was cheap to buy and is good value for money.

Somebody Loves Me 2 CD Set
I much prefer the 2 CD set (pictured above) which is on their Timeless label (catalogue number TL201). It comes packaged in a slip case and each CD has 12 tracks. The quality of the tracks is quite good and I like the fact that the packaging looks ‘aged’ if you get what I mean. The photograph on the sleeve is more in keeping with the time the songs were originally recorded also.
Another CD of Philips’ material is due to be released on 13th July on the Hallmark label called ‘Diamond Diva’.

Diamond Diva
This CD contains 17 tracks. It costs £2.99 from HMV to pre-order. The only other site I have seen it on is Play.com but I think it is more expensive.
It’s very disappointing that the same material continues to be reissued and there is nothing new available or even recordings never released before on CD. We know Pet Shop Boys and Manic Street Preachers have both written new songs for her and it states on Mike Dixon’s website ‘New project for DSB’ but nothing has been confirmed. We just have to make do with all these reissues and keep our fingers crossed that we will be rewarded with something new from Dame Shirley in the not too distant future.
