It is with great sadness that we announce the passing on Saturday of long time fan Sid Finney. Sid and his wife Hilary were devoted fans for more than 50 years and they followed Dame Shirley Bassey throughout the whole of her magnificent career. They were also present at many TV- recordings where they can be seen in the audience. It was only a week ago that Hilary lost her mother. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Sid and his devoted wife Hilary and all the family.

I TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY OF THANKING THE MANY FRIENDS MADE OVER THE YEARS AND AROUND THE WORLD IN WRITING TO ME DIRECT AND ON THE BOARD IN RESPECT OF MY DARLING SID WHO DIED SUDDENLY ON 28TH JUNE, JUST FIVE DAYS AFTER MY MOTHER. TO LOSE THE TWO MOST IMPORTANT PEOPLE IN MY LIFE HAS BEEN QUITE UNBEARABLE AND I AM STILL IN A DAZE. IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING THAT LIFE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME.
HAVING BEEN MARRIED FOR 47 YEARS MANY WILL KNOW THAT MUCH OF THAT TIME WAS TAKEN UP WITH BOTH OF US DOING A TOUR UP AND DOWN THE COUNTRY AS WELL AS TV RECORDINGS ALONG WITH THE FRIENDS WE MADE AND THOSE HAPPY MEMORIES WILL ALWAYS REMAIN.
I HOPE THAT WITH THE NEW ALBUM A CONCERT MIGHT COME ABOUT AND THAT PERHAPS I MEET UP WITH YOU ONCE MORE. IN THE MEANTIME I KEEP PLAYING OUR SPECIAL SONGS “YOU’LL NEVER KNOW” AND “THANK YOU FOR THE YEARS”.

Dear Hilary
I want to write a few words to you to let you know how sad I am at your sad losses. To lose two people who mean the world to you in such a short time is devastating and as you say ‘Life will never be the same’. You and I have not been in contact for some time as unfortunately I misplaced your new address when I had my health scare and my life was in turmoil. That doesn’t mean that I haven’t thought about you and hoped that life was good for you. I knew Sid had his health problems at the time also but you were his rock and there for him as well as being there for your mother. People know how devoted you were to each other.
Hilary you are in my heart and prayers and having just played your two special songs I have shared a little of your grief and shed tears. Take care.
