Last part of the show with Mel Torme who performs “I won’t last a day without you”‘ which Shirley also recorded on her 1973 Album “Never, never, never”. The Paul Williams and Roger Nichols’ composition “I won’t last a day without you” provided a US/Uk hit for the Carpenters in 1972. Williams and Nichols were something of a hit factory briefly in the early 70′s. They wrote hits for The Carpenters and other artists and Paul Williams himself charted with “Just an old fashioned love song” in 1971.
