    Just to make sure you all watch Shirley on BBC2 tomorrow night. I’m still buzzing from tonight’s performance. I’ve been lucky enough to have seen Shirley around 20 times starting in 1976 and I can honestly say tonighjt was just something incredibly special even by Shirley’s own standards. I’ve never heard her sing like tonight since the late 70s. Morevover tonight was one of the greates concerts I’ve ever attended & I’ve seen them all, including Sinatra, Ella, Sammy Davis Jr, Liza. Bravo Shirley & please no more talk of retirement.

    Remeber to set your recorders for tomorrow night!!! Overseas fans can watch on line at the BBCs website I believe, from around noon tomorrow.

    First and foremost, I love the blog, what a tremendous site this is!! I must thank you from the bottom of my heart for posting the audio from the Electric Proms, but I was wanting to know if fans could “download” the concert? I’ve listened to it via the BBC’s site, but would so love to put on my iPod!!!

    Wow !! -the atmosphere sounded wonderful and Shirley sounded as good as ever even better – but I have to admit that at times she didnt sound to confident with some of the “new songs” from the forthcoming album .Not omfortable would be a better word I think. The only one that really sounded like a Shirley type song was “The Performance”, this was the Shirley that we all have grown to love since the early days. I am only talking about the newer songs however – the old ones were performed with style and the power that we are so used to with a Bassey performance. Anyway looking forward to actually viewing this performance on the tv tonight.

    I can only reiterate Gordon’s comments. Friday’s show was an absolute pleasure and privilege to be part of. I have never been lucky enough to see Dame Shirley before and she was amazing. More than I had imagined. As well as well known songs, I also loved the new songs, which she sang with a wonderful sense of emotion. I was like a leaking tap from beginning to end! A truly wonderful night and the crowd were great fun too! Thanks to DSB & the BBC Electric Proms!
