The blog team wants to wish everybody a happy and merry Christmas. Now we like to share a Christmas show with you from 1971 where Dame Shirley appeared as a special guest on the Morecambe and Wise show.
This performance is also available on DVD now. From 1969 till 1980, with the exception of 1974, the show had end-of-year Christmas specials, which became such an institution during the 1970s that few British families would dream of missing them.
Dame Shirley always says in interviews that this performance is one of her all time favourites. She told that she could not stop laughing during the rehearsals and she thought she would not be able to perform. In the end when the actual recordings took place she managed to keep a straight face though being the professional as she is.
