Today I am beginning to start playing with the first of 3 favorite songs for Mark in Lincolnshire. Mark asked me to play “If And When”. This song was released on the 1982 album “All By Myself” and live in the TV special “A Special Lady in 1983. A very good choice, Mark, it is also one of my favorite songs. I will play both versions.
Enjoy, and I wish you all a nice weekend.

Lyric:
…..
If and when
I’ve fallen in love again
I shall remember when
My world was you
When and if
I get that all terrific thrill
It will last until
I think of you
Live and learn
They say we live and learn
And may be in return
We learn to live
Foolish me
How crazy can I be?
When anyone can see
There’s only you
If and when
Love ever calls again
I close the door and say
You’ve been this way before
If and when
Love ever calls again
I close the door and say
You’ve been this way before

One of Dame Shirley’s very, very BEST songs! (Adore the ‘All By Myself’ album)
Really, really great. The song was written by Cyril Ornadel and Norman Newell. BTW the original CD is almost impossible to find, though I’m sure many long-time fans have one. It was her first album after leaving United Artists, and her first album on CD.
My dearest fellows. This song is one of my favorites. This live version is really something. It makes my nerves blow up (of happiness obviously
)
I was lucky to hear this `live` on the wonderful 1982 tour, postponed due to illness. I saw this tour at Brighton,Royal Albert Hall and in Southampton.
