On Stage Tonight

As we all know, Dame Shirley Bassey is live at the Royal Albert Hall tonight, a favourite old haunt.

The FASHION ROCKS is the hottest ticket in town.

It’s her first performance since appearing at Glastonbury in June.

And her first visit to the Albert for a long time.

Shirley will only do one song, according to information received. But you never know, she might spring a surprise. I’m quite happy with one song – probably GTPS.

The other acts are hip contemporary musicians with some catchy songs.

It will be loud, dazzling and fun. All for a worthy cause, The Prince’s Trust.

I’m looking forward to meeting other fans in the cheap seats. Taking a camera and a new mobile phone that takes pictures. Assuming that Security doesn’t stop me!

Hopefully there will be a report here tomorrow. If you get any snaps please share them here with keen fans all over the world. And I’ll try to scan the programme.

The incomparable Dame Shirley will steal the show, as she always does!

A review from Retro To Go:

Once upon a time, Christmas day wasn’t complete without Morecambe & Wise – in fact, the 1977 Christmas Special still holds the British TV viewing record with 28 million viewers – that’s around half of the population.

The Christmas shows ran from 1969 to 1980, featuring endless classic sketches from Britain’s finest comedy duo and an endless list of special guests, including Shirley Bassey, Elton John, Michael Parkinson and Andre Previn. This set includes the Christmas Day shows from 1969 – 1977, probably their finest years.

Christmas 2007 will probably see us subjected to Ant ‘n’ Dec and My Family. Do yourself a favour – buy this and remember the days when TV wasn’t mind-numbingly dull.
