Dame Shirley arrives at Fashion Rocks last night
Joined by junior Royal, Princess Beatrice
Here’s a photo I took before the show of the huge chandelier. The photo doesn’t do it justice.
It was a scintillating work of art, with layers of tubular strands of crystals.
It was raised and lowered by electric motors.
A member of staff at the Royal Albert Hall told me this was the most beautiful stage she had ever seen there.
Congratulations to Swarovski, all the technicians and designers who created this spectacular centrepiece.
Earlier in the day I visited the Diana Memorial in Hyde Park, which looked like an open drain. I wish they had commissioned Swarowski to build that outdoor memorial.
Dame Shirley was first on stage and sang S’Wonderful and Big Spender
With Mike Dixon and his orchestra
She was in excellent voice and started their party in style
Models paraded in Marchesa creations as she sang, and she wore a black full-length gown
The audience loved her… of course!
