Mugged in Knightsbridge

From the Welsh press comes this news of DSB being a recent victim of street crime:-

“DAME Shirley Bassey says she doesn’t feel safe on the streets of London anymore after being mugged on a recent shopping trip.

She revealed how she was attacked when she attended the recent Q magazine music awards.

She said: “I got mugged in Knightsbridge last week. I was with my daughter and we got out of my car and decided to walk when someone bumped into me.

“I looked the other way and before I knew it they’d got my purse. It’s been frightful getting my new credit cards – it’s shocking.

“Whoever it was must have followed me. It’s awful to think I can walk safely in my home town of Monte Carlo but not in London.”

Nobody’s safe, not even someone as careful as Shirley.

The trouble is, now she’ll never come back to live in London.  Monaco offers safety on the streets with a well-resourced police force and CCTV everywhere.  They can even close the borders if there’s a major crime, sealing the villains inside the tiny principality.

After this incident Shirley is probably back there already!

Monaco named as the world’s safest travel destination by US travel expert.

Monte Carlo has a police force that numbers one officer for every one hundred residents, along with 24-hour video surveillance of the principality.

Divas sans Dame

The ITV1 spectacle “Saturday Night Divas” was aired last night. A great success

The show’s purpose was to recognise the wonderful work done by the breast cancer charities

The divas on stage were great, specially Alicia Keys. Celine Dion sang better than ever, polished by her months as the hottest cabaret ticket in Las Vegas

Mike Dixon was Musical Director and the orchestra was faultless

Quel dommage that the ultimate diva cancelled her appearance

Dame Shirley would have been the icing on the gateau

X Factor Rhydian sings Party

24 year old Cardiff-born Rhydian Roberts sang Get The Party Started on the X Factor last night

The orchestration was an exact copy of Dame Shirley’s, and he wore a silver sequinned suit

No credit to DSB was given in the show

According to The Mirror, Rhydian “is a pain” – click here for their report

I thought he did a great cover, strutting his stuff with showmanship, and he has a good operatic voice

Simon Cowell was positively complimentary about the contestant’s performance
