Don’t miss this one, folks!

An interview from GMTV in the room at Christie’s where the gowns were staged, followed by scenes at the auction itself from German TV.

The charity auction was in September 2003.

Children’s hospital

shirleynoah.jpg

As most fans know, Shirley has donated and raised a lot of funds for the Noah’s Ark Appeal.

Since 2000, they have developed a state-of-the-art hospital for children in Cardiff. Up till then, Wales was the only country in Europe without a dedicated national children’s hospital.

Shirley was central among celebrities to promote the project. She donated half the proceeds from the Christie’s gowns auction, and participated in other events.

On a vist to the wards, Dame Shirley got down on the floor to play with the kids. No airs or graces from this Dame!

On blog page dated 22nd November, there was a report from Noah’s Ark showing their disappointment at the surprising refusal by Cardiff Local Health Board to contribute its £1.1M share of the annual running costs.

That’s in a city where £13.5M has recently been given to the Millennium Centre, an entertainment complex.

But good news arrived today. The government has stepped in to underwite the gap…

The Italian Job

vanoni.jpg

If You Don’t Understand is a wonderful song featured here on 2nd December

As explained it’s an Italian song, written by Toto Cutugno.

I was thrilled to receive this response from Ivan, an Italian fan in Rome…

“Oh my God….never I thought to see Toto Cutugno on Bassey blog!
eheheheheheehh!!!!!!
;-)))

He had a good success in Italy…but from 10 years  he practically disappeared from music and tv…,.
but this song “If you don’t understand” was taken to a huge success by ORNELLA VANONI…a great Italian diva from 1960 (Cotugno is only the author).

She has a strange nasal voice, but very intense!…She continues to make CDs even today.

MINA remains the huge Italian diva, ORNELLA VANONI AND MILVA are considered the other two great divas….

The song in Italian is  “Rabbia libertà e fantasia”, but unfortunately on YouTube there is no video….I’ll make in the next days….

Here is a a video of Onella to see her

IN THE NEXT DAYS I’LL SEND YOU SOME BIOGRAPHY OF MINA WITH SOME VIDEO SO YOU CAN POST A BEAUTIFUL PROFILE OF THIS GREAT DIVA

Have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hallo from Ivan!”

Then a short time later I received this follow up…

“Peggy!!!!!!!!..
I’ve made this video ONLY FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10 MINUTES AGO

WITH LOVE IVAN!”
