Les was a much loved comedian who sadly died in 1993.

Born in Manchester, he was best known for his deadpan mother-in-law and wife jokes.

“My name is Les Dawson – that’s a stage name.
Actually I was christened Friday Dawson because when my father saw me he said to my mother
‘I think we’d better call it a day’.”

Lyrics:

Tonight I celebrate my love for you
It seems the natural thing to do
Tonight no one’s gonna find us
We’ll leave the world behind us
When I make love to you
Tonight I celebrate my love for you
And hope that deep inside you feel it too
Tonight our spirits will be climbing
To the sky lit up with diamonds
When I make love to you tonight

Tonight I celebrate my love for you (ooh)
And that midnight song is gonna come shining through
Tonight there’ll be no distance between us
What I want most to do
Is to get close to you tonight

Tonight I celebrate my love for you
And soon this old world will seem brand new
Tonight we will both discover
How friends turn into lovers
When I make love to you

Tonight I celebrate my love for you (ooh)
And that midnight song is gonna come shining through
Tonight there’ll be no distance between us
What I want most to do
Is to get close to you

Tonight I celebrate my love for you

Quote fro DSB’s latest interview:

She declares the bash a success – with one caveat. “The party was full of gorgeous guys – but there weren’t any I could take home,” she says.

“What happened? It was my party. Something went wrong there.”
