Lucrative group Radiohead left last year, describing management as behaving like “confused bulls in a china shop”, while Paul McCartney quit, saying the company was “really very boring”.

EMI have been in trouble for some time, losing £260m last year.

EMI was DSB’s label once, and her recordings are available on this album:

The Complete EMI Columbia Singles Collection

Sleeve notes by Theo Morgan.

An Amazon reviewer said:

“This excellent collection comes from the period 1959 to 1966, when she was signed to EMI’s (then) Columbia label, and is made up of 20 singles, A and B sides, 15 of which charted, plus seven tracks off two EPs, two from an LP of the musical Showboat, and one movie end-credit song, “My Liquidator”, which is an alternative version of the preceding song which she sings at the start of the film. They are all in their original glorious mono, undoctored, and sound superb.”

Malaysia flowers

It must be him
Another follow-up, folks! This chases the page “Message from Malaysia“ dated 13th January

From Pieter, here is a picture of superfan Terence Lee nervously giving DSB those flowers as he described, and later in the audience at the Cardiff concert.

Pieter said ” I will upload the Cardiff International Arena concert after the St. David’s Hall concert is finished.

By coincidence I also did an item about China yesterday for YouTube. Here is the link (Non-DSB and in Dutch, about a trip to Shanghai):

For now all the best and have a wonderful Shirley-week!

The cutaway gown that was banned on American TV

From Gary, who commented:

“The image of the gown that was banned on American TV is a “hoot”.
We were so square here. I can’t believe it. The things that are worn
(or not) is outrageous today. Shirley, as in most things she has done,
was way ahead of her time! “
