(Non-DSB) Just a final reminder that the reality TV series

Ladette to Lady

starts at 9 on ITV 22nd Jan.

Dame Shirley’s good friend Liz Brewer is a mentor of Ladettes on the programme.

Fabulous Liz organised DSB’s big December party. They go back a long time.

As previously plugged on January 17th and January 18th

Starts 9 pm on ITV1 Tuesday 22nd.

Before that, Liz will also appear on ‘This Morning’ sometime between 10:30 am and 12:30 pm.

It’s going to be even more entertaining than previous series!

Peggy recommends!

I wonder if they will ever do a Lad to Lord? 🙂

… or Dipstick to Dame?

Donny Osmond and DSB

oh-no.jpg

Here is a “fun” fact:

Donny Osmond (with the Osmond Brothers) opened for Miss Shirley Bassey in Las Vegas at the Sahara Hotel in 1965.

Viva Las Divas

Monday 21st January is officially the most depressing day of the year, with bad weather, broken New Year’s resolutions and diminishing motivation. But this blog has the remedy.

 It’s SHOWTIME!

We are enjoying a few days in sparkling Las Vegas.

Dame Shirley performed here many times, and is well remembered and celebrated. As we know, she got married here (as did her friend Joan Collins, above). DSB is perfectly capable of coming back to a welcoming Vegas as a world-beating superstar.

At the moment Elton John, Bette Midler, Barry Manilow and other big names are doing seasons.

A sensational Beatles show “LOVE” with the Cirque du Soleil is another hot ticket.

The Abba musical Mamma Mia is on, as is the Monty Python Spamalot stage comedy.

The city has gone upmarket with hotels like Wynns and The Bellagio.

So it is not all slot machines and crap games  # with Barons and Earls #.

 Vegas Wedding Chapels

One British family enjoyed the Wedding Chapel link so much that they are going to visit it during a forthcoming vacation.  For the DSB connection of course!

There are a few chapels in Vegas, where the marriage (and divorce) laws are liberal.

I wondered exactly where Elvis got married, and got the answer below from Gary:

“Elvis was married in 1967 at the original Aladdin in Vegas.”

Wedding Chapel

On 3rd and 7th January we had a couple of delightful photos of Shirley’s wedding to Sergio Novak in 1968.

Now you can visit the Wedding Chapel itself.

See where DSB’s happy day took place at the Little Church of the West.

Located on the Las Vegas Strip since 1942.

Shirley isn’t the only celebrity to have been married there. See the list for yourself…

Angelina Jolie & Billy Bob Thornton, Richard Gere & Cindy Crawford, David Cassidy & Kay Lenz, Greg Alman, Shirley Bassey, Ray Conniff, Broderick Crawford, Deanna Durbin, James Farentino, Rhonda Fleming, Red Foxx, Judy Garland, Bob Geldoff, Zsa Zsa Gabor & George Sanders, Robert Goulet, Betty Grable & Harry James, Johnny Hallyday, John James, Fernando Llamas & Arlene Dahl, Dudley Moore, Buck Owens, Mickey Rooney, David Sanborn, Telly Sevalas, Heather Thomas, Mel Torme, Dinah Washington, Margaret Whiting, and many more have been married at the Little Church of the West.
