Great hair day

May I introduce superfan and superstylist Jean-Francois…on TV.

It’s amazing just how many DSB fans are talented and artistic in their own way.

Perhaps the Dame attracts and inspires creative people. Artists, musicians, singers, computer whiz kids, composers, decorators, tribute acts, dancers, DJs, stained glass crafts, painters, charities, and other wonderful fans write to me daily.

And now – a fan I adore, Jean-Francois.

He’s a mega fan who bought the Pigalle Gown, had it professionally restored and displayed on a mannequin in the lobby of his beautiful New York apartment. This has all been on the blog before.

J-F was thrilled to meet Dame Shirley at Christie’s and enjoy a personal chat.

He sends me loads of memorabilia to brighten this blog.

Here’s a link to his guest appearance on New York’s BETTER.TV channel, as a top celebrity hair stylist…

Shirley’s friend, Sir Paul McCartney, was presented with an award for Outstanding Contribution To Music at the Brit Awards in London last night (February 20), before playing a five-song set to close the ceremony.

The ex-Beatles legend kept his acceptance speech short before heading on-stage to play five songs with a live band: ‘Dance Tonight’, ‘Live And Let Die’ ‘Hey Jude’, ‘Lady Madonna’ and ‘Get Back’.

The latter two songs were performed after national TV had stopped broadcasting from the event.

After accepting his award from presenters the Osbourne family, Sir Paul McCartney gave brief thanks and said, “I’m gonna keep this short… I think British music is the best!”

It was a top night for Take That and the Arctic Monkeys.

Leona Lewis, on the other hand, has been less lucky.

Kylie performed ‘Wow’ and looked great.

GTPS Chris Cox Mix tracks

Following on from earlier news about the versions of Get This Party Started mixed by Chris Cox:

Page dated 4th February

Here’s a link to a web site where you can hear all three tracks:

Click on ARTISTS / then click on the picture of DSB’s CD cover / Then click on +AUDIO / Then choose the three tracks in turn.

I wonder why the song is sometimes called Get THE Party Started and sometimes called Get THIS Party Started?

Who cares? It’s a hit!

Eartha and Shirley

Reading about Shirley’s participation at the 1968 San Remo festival, it brings me to mind that another great lady entered that year, namely Eartha Kitt, she didn’t win either.

I once heard an interview with Shirley and Eartha together in which they joked about one hitting the other backstage (don’t remember who was the ‘hitter’)

Take care!

Thanks, Frans. I can’t imagine fisticuffs between Eartha and Shirley 🙂

They are friends. DSB went to see Eartha’s show last year in London.

Can you picture it?  “And in the pink corner… Basher Bassey!”
