It is with sadness that we have learned that Peggy has passed away. Peggy ran the blog when it was known as ‘Peggy’s Blog’ for a considerable time and kept many fans informed of news regarding Dame Shirley. She made the blog popular and many fans loved to read her reports. She will be sadly missed by all.
I sat next to Peggy at Faenol which was the last concert Peggy saw Shirley. She was thrilled to be seeing her idol once again after following Shirley since the early years. Although it was terrible weather there was no way she was going to miss the show even though she laughed and said she hoped we didn’t all catch pneumonia after sitting in the terrible rain. She was a lovely lady and spoke excitedly about Shirley and about the blog (it was Peggy’s Blog) then. She said she loved that she was able to bring things to fan’s attention. Obviously we spoke very little during Shirley’s performance but after ‘You Needed Me’ she turned and said ‘That’s why I Love Shirley … such emotion!’.
Peggy we dedicate this performance to your memory.
Rest In Peace.

Very sad news. I never met Peggy but enjoyed her blog so much. From her writing you could tell she was a super-fan of DSB and also a charming lady. RIP
I am so sad to hear of her passing. My prayers are with her family.
We used to talk with e mail when she hold the blog…
I did some banner for her..
She told me about her roses in the garden….
I always view the Bassey Blog every day – but today I have shed a few tears for dear Peggy although I didnt know her I feel that I do somehow know this lovely lady through Shirleys singing- I agree totally as to what Peggy apparently said that Shirley has such emotion, who else could sing a lovely sony like “You needed me” – only Shirley with such emotion and such convistion. God Bless you Peggy rest in Peace.

I MET PEGGY ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS…ALL AT SHIRLEY CONCERTS OF COURSE !
SHE WAS A LOVELY LADY, IN THE OLD SENSE OF THE WORD “LADY” AND, AS YOU SAY, A DEVOTED DSB FAN. SHE WILL HAVE MUCH TO TALK ABOUT WITH MY SISTER JEAN WHEN THEY GET TOGETHER, BLESS THEM BOTH.
My thoughts and prayers are with Peggy’s family at this very sad time. I never had the pleasure of meeting Peggy but we corresponded by email a few times and I found her to be a delightful lady, god bless her soul x

I hope Peggy had a chance to enjoy The Performance. I regret I did not have a chance to meet the lady behind the blog. R.I.P Peggy.
Thank you, Peggy, for sharing your passion with other fans like us. I also hope you got a chance to enjoy The Performance. Rest in peace, peggy.
I cried when I heard of Peggy passing. Peggy wrote to me once and I felt she was an old friend who gave me so much joys and information of Dame Shirley Bassey. My Deepest Sympathy to her family. Peggy you were in my thought since you started this Blog. Yoke
I would like to know if anyone can tell me if Shirley actually ever recorded the song “You needed me” – if so was this on an album or released ever as a single?

Thank you for your kind words, many of which were read at the funeral yesterday and were very touching. It would have ment a great deal to my grandmother knowing she had so many friends across the web.
A loving grandson.
Just got back from abroad. Did not know of this sad news. Had several conversations with Peggy via e mail and have had several articles published by her when it was her blog. She was a lovely lady in the true sense of the word. Rest in Peace Dear Friend.
