Cannes AIDS Gala to Feature Dame Shirley Bassey

LONDON – Dame Shirley Bassey and the British rock band Duran Duran will perform at amFAR’s Cinema Against AIDS gala during this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Bassey, 76, will treat guests to some of her much-loved classics, while Duran Duran will give its only public performance of 2013.

Completing the musical line-up, British singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding and Tennessee four-piece Hot Chelle Rae will add pop flavour to the high-glamour event on May 23.

AmFAR representatives including Sharon Stone, Janet Jackson, Jessica Chastain and Heidi Klum will join a host of celebrity guests at the gala, which has become a hot ticket at Cannes. Now in its 20th year, the annual event has raised over $80 million for AIDS research.

  1. Thats good! but c’mon Shirley give us a performance here in the UK; we are desperately waiting for one to celebrate your amazing 60 years!

  2. DSB seems to only be doing those big event’s, and the old song’s. Yes her home country deserves a concert for this landmark year and The Performance deserves singing-best album of her later year’s!
