Today we relive a highlight from this year. Dame Shirley Bassey’s fabulous performance for the Oscars earlier this year. Unfortunately there are no newspaper clips from 2012 (yet).
Since this is a clip from this year we are at the end of the first series of newspaper clips covering the whole of the Dame’s career. Next week we will start once more from the top with the year 1953. I hope you keep enjoying them and have a wonderful weekend!
Thank you Pieter. I saw it, Dame Shirley stole the show.

Nice re-showing Pieter. The performance at the Oscars would’ve been even grander if it’d been a celebration of the Bond themes and Dame Shirley Bassey could’ve done atleast a medley of all 3 she’s sang. But still over a billion got to see The Ultimate Bond Girl in her prime.

the performance was just fantastic and fine as it was. a medley of her two most famous bond songs or one of all three songs just ruins the single songs. just listen to that dreadful mike dixon medley of all three bond songs where goldfinger is cut off at the very best part.

Think she do great singing each of the Bond songs. Would have been a treat for the audience. Hearing a true performer in this day and age perform.

Thank you, Pieter, for all these wonderful archives. Some things I did not know, but, Pieter, you are so kind at letting us see and hear the very best of Dame Shirley. How on earth did you have a blog of Dame Shirley’s first contract?? Thought it was safe in her abode in Monte Carlo.
