Dame Shirley’s ‘Pudsey Bear’.

Dame Shirley Bassey is among eight British celebrities selected to redesign the BBC‘s Children In Need mascot,’Pudsey’, for theVery Important Pudsey Collection – a line of eight bears to be auctioned to raise funds for the charity.  Other celebrities contributing designs are Sir Paul McCartney, Brian May, ColdplayTerry WoganDame Judi DenchJoanna Lumley and Dame Helen Mirren.

Dame Shirley had the following to about BBC Children In Need, and her “Pudsey” design pictured above:

“BBC Children in Need is a very special charity doing incredible work for disadvantaged children, so I of course wanted to support them in re-styling Pudsey Bear. Pudsey is an icon, and as such I felt he deserved a bit of sparkle, and just a touch of luxury, after all, he deserves it”

Dame Shirley‘s design is so very ‘Bassey’, quite luxurious, and a crowd favourite. ‘Bassey-Pudsey’ and the other seven bears are on display at St. Pancras International , in London, from November 4 – 17, 2013. The BBC Children In Need charity raises funds to help disadvantaged young people throughout the United Kingdom.
