  1. Pieter you have really done an excellent job. Thank you foe sharing this keepsake posting article and the great photo’s that speak volumes about Dame Shirley. She is a lovely person as can be seen by the affection and attention poured on her niece in the carriage, and her generosity towards her Mother, as well as desire to bring a smile to others through song. I have never seen any of this before and appreciate it. Thank you Pieter and all the blog team who work along side you.


  2. What fantastic discovery – thank you Pieter.

    Presumably baby Sharon referred to in one of the pictures is the little girl who we subsequently discovered was Shirley’s first child. How poignant this article now seems.

  3. Yes The Great Dame has out done just about all of them from that era, and she’s still got it. True Marco, what a difference in the times now about having a baby and being in show biz as she was unmarried then. I guess it would’ve been like, ‘ o the scandal of it all .’ “You’ve come a long way baby”. LONG LIVE THE DAME!
