DSB wiped away a tear this morning when the main walkway outside the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital in Cardiff was unveiled as “Dame Shirley Bassey Way” in honour and recognition of her support as the charity’s patron.
After meeting staff and patients, Shirley said the naming of this road in her hometown was an honour on a par with being made a Dame. She hugged the sign and said the last time she visited, there was no roof and she was in a hard hat!!
Dame Shirley Bassey: “As a Patron of Noah’s Ark, it has been wonderful for me to follow the story of this vital national charity, a high point of which is this iconic building which is our national children’s hospital. I have always given my unwavering support to Noah’s Ark and the thousands of children the hospital receives every year”
Dame Shirley was nursing a twisted knee which she picked up last night at a glittering star-studded charity function at Hensol Castle. She attended as guest of honour at a party to launch a new children’s charity, Princes Gate Trust, who aim to improve the lives of the disadvantaged. She was the star of the night and looked stunning in a glittering dress.
