Record Sleeves From The Past – 12

This is a 12 track compilation album that was released on the Liberty label in France in 1985.

A really lovely album with tracks from her Columbia and United Artists recordings.  It includes some of her hit recordings from both labels as well as ‘Goldfinger’ and ‘Diamonds Are Forever’.  Beautiful packaged in a gatefold sleeve with the title ‘Disque d’or’ (gold record) embossed in gold.  The back of the sleeve just lists the 12 tracks but inside there are some colour and b/w photos (shown below).

A terrific album and a great addition to my collection.

DSB is thrilled recipient of this year’s Nordoff Robins O2 Silver Clef Award

Shirley Bassey is to receive this year’s Nordoff Robins O2 Silver Clef Award. It was reported in The List that The Dame is thrilled to have been chosen to receive the prestigious accolade, which recognises her long and successful music career.

Speaking ahead of the star-studded annual charity awards ceremony to be held at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on Friday June 30, DSB said: “I’m honoured to be the recipient of this year Silver Clef Award. Music is my career. Music is my life. Music is my friend. Music has been there to celebrate the highs and sooth through the lows. I believe everybody has a song inside of them; some people can lose their way in life, some struggle to express themselves – but Nordoff Robbins works with these people to find their inner songbird and true happiness.”

The Silver Clef Awards have been running for 42 years and raised nearly £10 million to fund the Nordoff Robbins charity, who provide music therapy for people of all ages.

Other winners this year include Blondie (Icon), Phil Collins (Outstanding Achievement), Nile Rodgers (International), Emeli Sande (Best Female), Mumford and Sons (Royal Albert Hall Best Group Act), Anne-Marie (Best Newcomer), DJ Pete Tong (Innovation) and Alexander Armstrong (Classical).
