Today we review Shirley Bassey’s performance on the Des O’Connor show from 1990.
As much as she disliked doing interviews for TV Dame Shirley always felt relaxed and very at ease with Des O’Connor. As a result of that there are a few very nice performances of Dame Shirley on the Des O’Connor Show from over the years. On this show from 1990 she features two songs: The Greatest Love Of All & Hey Jude.
Des O’Connor Tonight (1977–2002) was a celebrity chat show on British TV. that also featured music and comedy.
In 1962 Shirley Bassey’s husband Kenneth Hume had advanced plans for her to star in a Broadway musical and to make her debut on the white screen. The newspaper article below describes these plans very well.
