  1. Sergio was her best manager ever! He REALLY cared and unfortunately suffered in the end. I respect him. The 70’s were Shirley’s most productive, innovative and therefore most stressful years. She was a real pro in that period, but not always a joy to work with, let alone to live with. I salute him. Very weird that after Mr Novak was out of sight Shirley never had a real management around her anymore; a one management that really cared for artistic and creative talent.
    The music industry was indeed changing, but I still believe that when she’d have had a proper team around her at that time, her recording career could have stayed at a much higher level as it turned out to be.

  3. Thank you Pieter. Very intriguing article. I am so glad that Sergio found lasting love again. Shirley has always stated that she for a long time was unconscious my looking at men as father figures. I am sure that DSB did want to get back with Sergio. Looking back as the years have passed, and with age maturity she would admit her part in the dissolution of her marriage. They made a lovely looking pair though. Thanks Pieter.
