In November 2010 American actor and comedian Leslie Nielsen died aged 84. Now you probably ask what his connection with Dame Shirley is.
Leslie played in 1980 in a comedy called ‘Airplane’ . He played the role of a doctor on the plane when a dangerous situation occurs and he says to the pilot: “We’re running out of time” . The pilot on the brink of panic says: “Surely you can’t be serious”. The doctor looks at him and says: “I am serious…….and don’t call me Shirley!”
