This was a very busy year for Shirley Bassey. An Australian tour and her co-operation with Nelson Riddle which resulted in the album Let’s Face The Music And Dance. Unfortunately she also had to face a divorce and a string of health problems that year. Also the opening of her own record store in London.

It looks like colour was the theme of 2019’s gala, however, since a number of the star-studded guests arrived in bold gowns. French actress Karin Viard looked incredible in a colour-clashing purple and pink gown, while Princess Constance of Bourbon-Parme also chose a bold purple ballgown. Dame Shirley Bassey also made a glamorous appearance in green.
Today I would like to share a video and a newpaper article with you from 1989. It was the year when DSB recorded her Spanish album called ‘La Mujer’. As you know I am an avid video collector and for the last few weeks I have been going through my friend Rien’s video tapes. I spend many hours going 
through video tapes and it is aways a thrill to find a new piece of footage like this one. Unfortunately the video tapes that are between 20 and 30 years old are really in decline now. This video has a poor quality too unfortunately because of its age but I thought I was worth sharing with you anyway because it is so 
unique. It is a recording from CNN (Showbizz today). So if there are any fans who still have old video tapes please send them to us and I will scan them for new footage. We have a huge archive now of videos and sometimes I also find things we already have in a better quality.
