During her marriage to Sergio Novak Shirley Bassey lived in Switzerland and had a summer residence in Sardinia where the family often spent their holidays. The house was sold after they got divorced but is now being rented to tourists to spend their holidays. It has a capacity of twenty guests. Ten bedrooms and bathrooms plus two staff bedrooms with showers.
The Novaks had the house built at the end of the sixties and it fitted the landscape perfectly. The master bedroom was located in the round tower inspired by the name of the village Portorotondo. At the time the name of the house was Tiger Bay. A name that needs no further explanation of course. I saw the house in 1979 when I visited Sardinia and was impressed by the beauty of it. It was a wonderful place for the children too who often invited their friends, nieces and nephews over and it had a private beach that was later named Bassey Beach. (For a previous post CLICK HERE and for the Facebook Page of Bassey Beach CLICK HERE) After it was sold they named it Summerwind. The house was also modernized and became much more luxurious. You can CLICK HERE for the website of the company that rents it. Below two slideshows of the house. One from the old days and one from the current state of the house. In the early seventies the documentary All About Shirley was recorded here. (Special thanks to Claudia for bringing this to my attention)
