Lyrics
With Al Corley

AC: (laughs) You know sitting here next to you now
it’s as if I was meeting you for the very first time

This time it’s through
Between us two
I’m through with you

AC: Oh come on you don’t mean that
I really do

AC: But baby you got to believe me
Believe in you
Oh if I could
I really would

AC: give it a try

But it’s no good

AC: Hey I promise you things will be different now
You promised me
Promised forever
and all I’ve got are souvenirs
to remember

AC: ah but baby you are the beginning of my day the wind that blows my cares away
I know, you’ve got a way with words
AC: well if you say so
Yes you have and just as soon as my back is turned
You’ll be off without a care in the world
Why should I care even when you’re not here?
I feel so good, I’ve got my souvenirs

Remember, Remember, Remember
AC: oh I’m here
Remember I’ll always remember
AC: Just you
Those moments so tender so tender
September, October, November, December
Remember the days that we had
The way that we were

AC: The way you looked that night how could you blame me for giving you the eye
I caught your glance
I took a chance
A real romance
AC: Romancing and dancing, that’s me
I took the chance

AC: Do you remember what I said to you?

A whispered word
something I heard
but so absurd
AC: where have you been all my life?
You and your words
AC: but let’s now forget the good times
The times we had were so exciting
And the way you spoke to me was so inviting

AC: oh honey you are like a flower that’ll never wilt, a painting that’ll never fade
I know, you’ve got a way with words
AC: and if you didn’t exist I would invent you
sure you would
but just as soon as my back is turned
you’ll be off without a care in the world
why should I care even when you’re not here?
I feel so good, I’ve got my souvenirs

Remember, Remember, Remember
AC: You and me
Remember I’ll always remember
AC: Just the two of us
Those moments so tender so tender
September, October, November, December
Remember the days that we had
The way that we were

Remember, Remember, Remember
AC: I am never going to forget
Remember I’ll always remember
AC: Oh baby
Those moments so tender so tender
September, October, November, December
Remember the days that we had
The way that we were

Today the start of a new series from the archive. Due to technical problems it is very difficult to post at the moment so that is why this is a very simple post.

Duets # 26

Today the duet with Al Corley which is the B-side of the single Remember. The second version of Thought I’d Ring You was with Al Corley singing English. This recording begins and ends with a studio-created live atmosphere. This version was released on the B-side of the single Remember (another duet with Al Corley.)  On the single it is noted that the duet was from an original idea by Eddy Luyckx. He was also the producer.

Additionally in 1984 a single was released with both versions on it, and both versions are available on the collection Solitaire.

Lyrics
Al Corley Version

Shirley Bassey:
Thought I’d ring you
And tell you I’m in town
Hope to see you
Yes, dinner would be fine
Do you remember when you and I first met?
I know I do, do you?

Al Corley:
Hey baby
It’s sure good to hear your voice again
Of course I haven’t forgotten the day we first met
If you remember
We both had our eye on the same cab
And just as we got there
Mmhmm… it started to rain
I guess I’ll never forget that look in your eye
Not that look

Shirley Bassey:
Lost and confused
Whatever could I do?
Nothing to lose
Oh, don’t you see I trusted you?
Caught in the rain on such a sunny day
Caught in the rain on such a special day with you

Nice to see you
You’ve hardly changed, it’s true
A little older
But time’s been kind to you
Do you remember a very special night?
You know I do, do you?

Al Corley:
Do I? .. Mmhmm, mmhmm ..
You know, that neither of us really cared where we were headin’
Aahh, not that night
And that cabbie dropped us off at that little French restaurant I knew
And what with the wine and the food
We just never noticed the time
I know I kept on wishing that night would never, ever end

Shirley Bassey:
Lost and confused
Whatever could I do?
Nothing to lose
Oh, don’t you see I trusted you?
Caught in the rain on such a sunny day
Caught in the rain on such a special day with you

Lost and confused
Whatever could I do?
Nothing to lose
Oh, don’t you see I trusted you?
Caught in the rain on such a sunny day
Caught in the rain on such a special day with you

FROM THE ARCHIVE 508 -2020-

The year 2020 was a significant year in Dame Shirley Bassey’s career with the recording and release of her latest album I Owe It All To You. Below an article from Music. Also I was wondering what would be the most popular songs on the album so I looked at the views on YouTube. You Ain’t Heard Nothing Yet is the most viewed clip. You Ain’t Heard Nothing Yet is the only song that had a video.
