Open-topped double decker buses from each of the seven decades of the Queen’s reign will carry 150 ‘national treasures’ who have contributed to British life from singers Sir Cliff Richard and Dame Shirley Bassey to actor Jeremy Irons, model Kate Moss, sports legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean and Gary Lineker and chefs Heston Blumenthal and James Martin.

The year 1994 was another very busy year for Shirley Bassey. She collected her gong at the palace in February and it was the year of her 40th. year in show business. There was a 2 month world tour and she performed at the Royal Variety Performance once more.

Today the trip to memory lane goes back to 1993. An extremely busy year for Commander of the British Empire Shirley Bassey. Below we have two newspaper articles from The Bristol Evening Post and an interview which is actually taken out of the documentary from that year Have Voice Will Travel. Shirley was also on tour that year and performed In Cardiff early that year with the 10.000 men choir. Later in an interview she confessed there were ‘only’ 8500 men. In September that year she opened the Cardiff International Arena.
