Gut gestimmt

Today a repost FROM THE ARCHIVE 398 -1972. A  few weeks ago I saw that a website copied and used this post but unfortunately the links for the songs were not working anymore. Also I now found out that the intro music used on All About Shirley is from the Diamonds Are Forever James Bond movie soundtrack. Below that one also in good quality.

Some of the songs Shirley Bassey performed on All About Shirley (Show of the Week 1972) were released in Germany on an LP. called ‘Gut gestimmt’. By clicking the players below you can listen to the songs in good quality stereo.

‘All about Shirley’ is a fantastic British-German documentary filmed by the BBC in 1972. The recordings took place in the studio in Germany (Hamburg) and in Sardinia (Italy) where Shirley had her second home at the time named “Tiger Bay” in Porto Rotondo at the Costa Smeralda in Sardinia Italy. It gives a wonderful insight of how her life was at that time.

  1. Fabulous, just fabulous Dame Shirley Bassey. Our wonderful super star 🌟 from Wales!!  Why on earth wasn’t she top of the bill at the recent Platinum Jubilee celebrations for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II? Looking back and listening to the recordings over the years – what an amazing career. Fabulous songs sung by a fabulous, unforgettable star 🌟   There’s no one to touch our welsh super star and never will be!! Love and God bless Dame Shirley!! 2. I agree with Patti’s comments Pieter. I really enjoyed the beautiful video with the interview, giving us a glimpse of her happy family life at that period. The Show of the Week performance was excellent. DSB’s rendition of ‘On A Clear Day’ was perfection, sang and performed unlike any other. Of course, acknowledgments to the musical arranger, orchestra, and all others involved. Wonderful archive Pieter. Thank you very, very much.

  3. How wonderful to be able to listen to the four beautiful songs from this great show, separate from the image! The beautiful way Dame Shirley sang “Excuse Me” in this performance is and remains my favorite of this 1972 show! Thank you Peter! 💎💍💎💍💎💍💎
