(Non-DSB) Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

80 glorious years…

Happy 80th Birthday your Majesty.
And one of your Dames will be 70 next year!
Long may they both reign.

During this evening’s laser and fireworks display at Kew they played “Diamonds Are Forever”

(Non-DSB) Joe Longthorne is back

I first got interested in Joe Longthorne because he did such an accurate impersonation of Shirley Bassey. He has met her, and they are friends.

Above: Joe in 2001 good-looking, so refined
After Elvis, Joe is my favourite male singer. He does a superbly realistic tribute to the King too.

After a long fight against leukaemia, and the major surgery of a bone marrow transplant, Joe Longthorne has returned in triumph after months of intensive therapy.

He is now recovered, and has started a UK Spring tour.

On Easter Sunday he gave a spectacular comeback performance at the Grand, Blackpool.

Mr. Entertainment wowed the audience with 90 minutes of fine singing, comedy and his uncanny impersonations of many singing stars. From Pavarotti to John Lennon. His fans welcomed him with an electrifying standing ovation the moment he walked on stage.

I met Joe last year at his birthday bash, and he’s a lovely person. He treats his fans like family, and makes us laugh with his wickedly dry sense of humour.

His official website is well worth visiting:

This gives details of his career, his near-fatal illness and his fundraising for cancer charities. The true affection from his legions of loyal fans (including me) is clear from the non-stop messages on the Guestbook.

Also I must give a plug to my friend Barb, who runs an unofficial fansite:
