From his Facebook page: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Paul Spencer earlier today. He was positive until the end but this was one battle he could not fight anymore. He leaves behind a wonderful musical legacy and many happy memories for many people. He will be sadly missed by everyone who loved him. Shine bright our big star.

FROM THE ARCHIVE 626 -2008-

Today we go back to the year 2008 with two  articles from the Sunday Times about the Dorchester Hotel, where Dame Shirley stayed many times during her tours through Great Britain and OK! about her 70th birthday party. Below you can also listen to a remix version from that year of Get The Party Started: The Chris Cox Club Mix.

Live at the Cafe de Paris -1956-

As a follow up on the last blogpost more facts about the live performance at the Cafe de Paris in October 1956.

At the end of the Seventies I found this LP on a school trip to Berlin and I could not wait to get home to play it. Side one contains songs from the Cafe de Paris performance and side two are studio recordings. The title of the first song is wrong on the LP. The song was Born To Sing The Blues not The Birth Of The Blues which was another recording of Shirley’s. In 2007 these 5 live songs were released on a compilation CD called Shirley Bassey The Early Years.
