FROM THE ARCHIVE 624 -2006-

Dame Shirley Bassy’s last big UK Tour was in 2006 and we noticed that she didn’t seem to enjoy it as much as she used to. Below is an interview her sister Eileen gave to the Western Mail. Dame Shirley was not very happy about this interview but, as you can read, Eileen speaks of her sister only with love and respect. Slowing down was a wise decision for Dame Shirley, because after 2006 she seemed to enjoy herself more and did a lot of fun things.

For today’s blog we have another fabulous contribution from Neil. In January, he recorded the BBC Wales programme “Rewind: 60 Years Of Welsh Pop”, a 30-minute Bassey compilation, which we can all now watch here on the blog. We hope you enjoy it, and another big thank you to Neil!

FROM THE ARCHIVE 623 -2005-

Today we go back to 2005 with two articles from My Weekly and The Sun. It was a very busy year for Dame Shirley Bassey and she also appeared at the Royal Variety Performance that year. The featured image you see above is her rehearsing for The RVP in Cardiff. The article from The Sun is about her ‘duet’ with Kanye West: Diamonds Are Forever.
