This week I was browsing through some old blog posts and I came across this one from 2012. It was a tribute to our dear friend Jean Reade and I can’t believe it is almost 14 years ago she left us. Below a picture of her with Shirley and a short video when we caught Shirley in the afternoon rehearsing for the summer concert she gave at Cardiff Castle in the summer of 1995.
I would like to dedicate today’s Video Showcase to our dear friend and Dame Shirley fan Jean who passed away 4 years ago.
We all still miss her and she will never be forgotten and our thoughts are especially with her partner Janice, her sister Audrey and the rest of her family. Here is one of Jean’s favourites Still from the 1994 concert Shirley Bassey did in Tokyo, Japan.
Lyrics
Baby
Morning’s just a moment away
And I’m without you once again
You laughed at me
You said you never needed me
I wonder if you need me now
We played the games that people play
We made mistakes along the way
Somehow I know deep in my heart
You needed me
Remembering the pain, if I must stay
It’s deep in my mind, and locked away
But then most of all
I Do Love You
Still
Memories
Times I’m sure, will never forget
Those feelings we can’t put aside
For what we had
Sometimes I try to understand
But it’s so heavy on my mind
So many dreams that flew away
So many words we didn’t say
Two people lost in a storm
Where did we go?
Where’d we go?
Lost what we both had found
You know we let each other down
But then most of all
I Do Love You
Still
We played the games that people play
We made mistakes along the way
Somehow I know deep in my heart
You needed me
‘Cause I needed you so desperately
We were too blind to see
But then most of all
I do love you
Still

Terence from Malaysia remembers Jean with fondness and how she went out of her way to get him a rare Bassey single on Towerbell. I still have the Christmas cards she sent and will never forget her.
